Holland & Knight Promotes Rafael Lafont Castillo to Partner in Bogotá

BOGOTÁ (January 11, 2022) – Holland & Knight is pleased to announce that Rafael Lafont Castillo has been named a partner in the firm's Bogotá office, effective January 1, 2022.

In his new position, Mr. Lafont Castillo will continue to serve clients in the Tax and Exchange Practice, as well as support all other practice areas of the firm in both Colombia and the United States. The Holland & Knight tax team in Colombia also features the experience of partner Juan Carlos Valencia Márquez.

Mr. Lafont joined the firm in 2013 as an associate, and in 2020 he was promoted to senior counsel. He has extensive experience in international and domestic tax and foreign exchange consulting, as well as in the planning and execution of inbound and outbound investment projects, focusing on the areas of planning, consulting, foreign investment, litigation and in the application of double taxation avoidance agreements.

Mr. Lafont is a lawyer from Universidad del Norte, a specialist in Tax Law from Universidad de Los Andes and a specialist in Corporate Law from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana de Bogotá, and holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation of Cross-Border Investment from the University of Miami School of Law.
