Holland & Knight's Christopher Nolan Elected Vice Chair of ABA Tort, Trial & Insurance Practice Section

NEW YORK (February 22, 2022) – Holland & Knight Partner Christopher R. Nolan was elected vice chair of the American Bar Association's (ABA) Tort, Trial & Insurance Practice Section (TIPS), one of the ABA's largest sections. While the election occurred at the ABA mid-year meeting this month, he will be sworn into office during the annual conference in August. In the coming years, he is slated to serve as chair-elect (2023-24) and chair (2024-25).

Mr. Nolan currently serves as secretary of TIPS, a position he has held since 2018. He was previously a member of the 15-member TIPS Council and chair of the Admiralty & Maritime Law Committee. He has served in a host of other leadership roles in the organization throughout the last decade.

"The opportunity to serve as TIPS chair going into its ninth decade of lawyer development, business-relationship building and friendship-forming good cheer is very exciting to me," said Mr. Nolan. "I will be the first chair to come up the ranks from the admiralty committee since 2004 and am grateful to my peers for electing me to this important role where I can encourage the next generation of lawyers and in-house counsel leaders to join our team."

Mr. Nolan works in Holland & Knight's New York and Chicago offices and serves as co-chair of the firm's Transportation and Infrastructure Group comprising 190 colleagues around the world. Mr. Nolan is an international dispute resolution and arbitration lawyer whose practice concentrates on complex commercial litigation with an emphasis on maritime, contract and insolvency matters.

Mr. Nolan is the only American lawyer to be included on the "Top 10 Maritime Lawyers" by Lloyd's List, a ranking of the most influential lawyers in the global maritime industry, in both 2018 and 2019. He is also consistently recognized as a leading shipping attorney by the Chambers USA, Chambers Global, The Legal 500 USA and The Best Lawyers in America guides.
