Holland & Knight Partner Mary McNulty Honored as Outstanding Texas Tax Lawyer
DALLAS (October 13, 2022) – Holland & Knight Partner Mary McNulty will be recognized as the 2021 Outstanding Texas Tax Lawyer at the State Bar of Texas Tax Section's annual fall conference in Dallas on Oct. 14, 2022.
Each year, the Tax Section recognizes one attorney for their "reputation for expertise and professionalism within the community of tax professionals specifically, and the broader legal community." Winners are also recognized for their participation in the State Bar of Texas, American Bar Association, local bar associations or other legal organizations; significant contributions to the general welfare of the community; reputation for ethics; and mentorship of other tax professionals.
Ms. McNulty has represented large business taxpayers for more than 30 years in Internal Revenue Service (IRS) audits, appeals and tax litigation, with an emphasis on federal tax procedural issues, interest, penalties and partnership audits. She has significant experience in partnership tax issues relating to private equity, energy, real estate and exempt organizations.
In addition, Ms. McNulty remains committed to her involvement in professional organizations. She has served in many leadership positions for the American Bar Association's (ABA) Section of Taxation in addition to the State Bar of Texas Tax Section, where she served as chair from 2011-2012. She is currently the vice chair of committee operations for the ABA's Section of Taxation, a member of the Law360 Tax Editorial Advisory Board and is on the board of regents for the American College of Tax Counsel (5th Circuit Regent).
Ms. McNulty is also dedicated to community service, as evidenced by her involvement with multiple civic and charitable organizations. She is currently on the board of the Business Council for the Arts and has also served on the boards of The Family Place and Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. She is a frequent author and speaker on technical tax topics and has mentored countless tax attorneys.
Ms. McNulty is the second Holland & Knight attorney to receive the Tax Section's Outstanding Texas Tax Lawyer award, following Emily Parker in 2012.
