Overview

Robert W. Borger is a private wealth services attorney in Holland & Knight's Jacksonville office. Mr. Borger focuses his practice on domestic and international estate and tax planning, as well as administration of complex estates and trusts.

Mr. Borger provides customized estate and tax planning services for high-net-worth individuals and families. He counsels clients and their advisers on the implementation of sophisticated estate planning strategies designed to grow, preserve and transfer wealth in alignment with each client's objectives. As part of this work, Mr. Borger designs comprehensive estate plans and drafts a broad range of estate and tax planning instruments, including wills, revocable trusts, insurance trusts, dynastic trusts, grantor retained annuity trusts (GRATs), charitable trusts and related documents.

In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Borger serves as a CH-47F helicopter pilot in the Florida Army National Guard. Since beginning his military service in 2010, Mr. Borger has supported multiple overseas combat deployments to the Middle East and Africa and has played an active role in domestic hurricane response and recovery operations throughout Florida.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Borger advised clients on a wide range of tax matters related to real estate investment trusts (REITs), with a focus on transactional planning and compliance. He has experience conducting asset- and entity-level due diligence for acquisitions by public and private REITs, preparing detailed due diligence reports and performing quarterly REIT testing and financial modeling to support ongoing compliance.
