Overview

William "Bill" Brady is an attorney in Holland & Knight's Boston office. Mr. Brady focuses his practice on white collar criminal defense, government and internal investigations, and complex litigation. An experienced trial lawyer, Mr. Brady focuses in particular on representing clients in the healthcare industry.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Brady spent more than six years as an assistant U.S. attorney in the District of Massachusetts, where he investigated and prosecuted white collar cases as a member of the office's Health Care Fraud Unit. He has extensive first-chair trial experience, including numerous jury trials. Mr. Brady's experience includes matters involving healthcare fraud, the False Claims Act (FCA), Anti-Kickback Statute (AKS) and Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act (FDCA), tackling issues ranging from fraudulent pharmaceutical practices to cybercrime and money laundering.

In addition to his strong background with healthcare fraud cases, Mr. Brady has considerable experience handling complex disputes and investigations, including regulatory and internal investigations, corporate governance disputes, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) litigation and cybersecurity-related litigation.

Prior to his government experience, Mr. Brady was a litigation partner at a top law firm in Boston, where he focused on high-stakes securities litigation and other complex litigation matters. Mr. Brady began his legal career as a litigation associate at a top law firm in New York after previously serving as legal counsel to a presidential campaign.

Representative Experience

  • Prosecuted a global management consulting firm for its role in the opioid crisis, a case that marked the first time a management consulting firm was held criminally responsible for advice resulting in the commission of a crime by a client and set new accountability standards for the consulting industry
  • Handled multiple jury trials as a federal prosecutor, including a tax fraud case that resulted in the conviction of a lawyer
  • Prosecuted a doctor, who was one of the highest opioid prescribers in Massachusetts, in a healthcare fraud case
  • Secured the conviction of a participant in a business email compromise scheme in a wire fraud case
  • Prosecuted a $100 million home healthcare fraud case that led to the conviction of the primary individual involved at trial
