Overview

Mary Elizabeth Cisneros is an attorney in Holland & Knight's Washington, D.C., office and a member of the firm's Private Wealth Services Group. Ms. Cisneros focuses her practice on trusts, estates and charitable donations.

Ms. Cisneros primarily represents charitable organizations in trust and estates matters. She is a member of a national team of attorneys, fiduciary accountants and paralegals who advocate on behalf of nonprofit organizations as beneficiaries of matured bequests. She provides a personalized perspective on donor intent and revenue maximization from her experience implementing and managing a trust and estate administration process at one of the world's largest charities.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Ms. Cisneros worked as an in-house counsel at high-profile organizations, where she counseled board members and senior management in all areas of nonprofit operations, including labor and employment law, fundraising, governance, tax-exempt compliance and corporate transactions. She also represented her organization in connection with congressional investigations and inquiries from federal and state agencies as well as state attorneys general.

Additionally, Ms. Cisneros has held roles where she advised senior leadership of global nonprofits and Fortune 500 companies on complex labor and employment investigations and lawsuits. She has litigated a variety of employment disputes in federal courts, state courts and arbitration proceedings.

In addition to her legal practice, Ms. Cisneros is a frequent speaker and panelist on trust and estate and compliance issues relating to nonprofits.
