Overview

Doug Clapp is the immediate past Practice Group Leader of the Tax Credit Transactions Group in the Business Law Department. The Tax Credit Transactions Group has more than 40 lawyers in multiple offices around the firm working on transactions involving various tax credits and other tax advantaged investments. Mr. Clapp’s practice focuses on syndicated real estate transactions which qualify for the low-income housing and/or the historic rehabilitation tax credit. He has handled matters for several major national syndicators of affordable housing and other real estate projects in the country, both as those syndicators raise and pool money from investors and as they make investments in housing projects. Mr. Clapp represents lenders and Fortune 500 corporate investors in, and developers of, affordable housing, market-rate apartments, student housing complexes and commercial real estate projects. His practice also includes the resolution of partnership, tax and other structuring issues which arise in transactions involving the acquisition of real estate portfolios or partnership and limited liability company interests.

Mr. Clapp was twice an Academic All-American golfer while at Amherst College and he has competed in 15 United States Golf Association Championships and three British Amateur Golf Championship.
