Overview
Shaun G. Goodfriend is a litigation attorney in Holland & Knight's New York office and a member of the Data Strategy, Security & Privacy Team. Mr. Goodfriend focuses his practice on incident response following consumer data compromises and ransomware attacks, where he leads clients through the complex legal and regulatory aftermath of cybersecurity incidents.
In his incident response work, Mr. Goodfriend assists with forensic analysis and engages with experts specifically chosen to augment the protection of privileged and confidential communications, determine the cause of the breach and identify the specific data at risk. He guides organizations through time-sensitive notification requirements and helps mitigate potential legal and regulatory exposure. Mr. Goodfriend also develops and implements incident response plans designed to comply with legal obligations and prevent additional data incidents.
Mr. Goodfriend represents clients in litigation matters related to data breaches, including defending against class actions and cases involving online privacy and wiretapping claims. He also frequently helps clients respond to fraudulent website domains and malicious social media activity.
Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Goodfriend was a cybersecurity and data privacy attorney for a national law firm in its New York office. Previously, he worked as an associate for an international law firm in New York, advising on various investment funds and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) compliance.
