Christian Weller Grossenbacher

Christian W. Grossenbacher is an attorney in Holland & Knight's Century City office and a member of the West Coast Real Estate Group. Mr. Grossenbacher focuses his practice on complex commercial real estate transactions and finance matters. His work includes land banking transactions and the acquisition, disposition and financing of multifamily, retail, office and industrial properties.

Mr. Grossenbacher also has experience representing borrowers and lenders in mortgage and mezzanine financings, as well as preferred equity transactions.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Grossenbacher was a law clerk for a boutique real estate law firm in Miami, where he focused on matters concerning business organization and real estate joint ventures.

While in law school, Mr. Grossenbacher served as the president of the Law and Entrepreneurship Association (LEA), was selected by faculty to serve as a legal research and writing advisor to first-year law students and mentored aspiring law students through UCLA's Law Fellows Program.

Representative Experience

• Representation of a real estate investment adviser in connection with the $148.5 million acquisition of a mixed-use multifamily and retail property located in San Diego
• Representation of a real estate investment firm in connection with approximately $115.9 million in Fannie Mae mortgage loans for the refinancing of a multifamily housing portfolio consisting of 1,180 units located across California, New Jersey, Washington and Illinois
• Representation of a real estate investment adviser in connection with a $96 million refinancing of a multifamily property located in downtown Los Angeles, comprised of an $86 million first mortgage loan and a $10 million mezzanine loan
• Representation of a real estate investment firm in connection with a loan-on-loan financing for the acquisition of a $28.2 million mortgage loan secured by real property located in Chicago
• Representation of an asset management firm in connection with a $23.5 million acquisition of a non-performing construction loan secured by a mixed-use property located in Los Angeles, followed by a structured deed-in-lieu of foreclosure transaction
• Representation of one of Southern California's largest banks in the lease review of branches located across Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington in connection with its $2 billion merger with an Oregon-based regional bank
• Representation of an investment management fund in the $39.4 million land banking of land entitled for development of a 134-home community in Santa Clarita, California
• Representation of a real estate investment firm in connection with the acquisition and disposition of various shopping center properties located throughout the U.S.
• Representation of a real estate investment company in connection with the acquisition of a mixed-use student housing and retail property located in East Lansing, Michigan
