Overview

Andrew Klair is a litigation attorney in Holland & Knight's San Francisco office and a member of the firm's West Coast Litigation Group.

Mr. Klair handles complex litigation matters, with a particular focus on commercial disputes and healthcare litigation. He has experience in cases involving managed care litigation, healthcare intellectual property (IP) and healthcare supply contracts. His commercial experience includes cases involving California's Unfair Competition Law, fraud and commercial leasing. Additionally, he has experience with alcohol beverage licensing and assists clients throughout the alcohol licensing process in California and Alaska.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Klair interned at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in San Francisco. He also has extensive experience in the brewing industry in California and Colorado.

Mr. Klair has received awards and recognition for his work with homeless clients in the San Francisco Bay area. While in law school, Mr. Klair served on the executive board of the Homeless Legal Services Program at University of California Hastings College of the Law. He worked with homeless individuals to direct them to available legal services, as well as helped homeless shelter residents to clear outstanding criminal warrants in their name.

Representative Experience

  • Healthcare Transaction: Advised California's largest public healthcare district on an innovative structural reorganization to partner with a newly created nonprofit management services organization
  • Commercial Litigation: Obtained a favorable ruling for a franchisee of numerous restaurant franchises across California in a case involving allegations of fraud, forgery and unfair business practices
  • Healthcare Technology and Intellectual Property Litigation: Obtained a favorable outcome for a healthcare technology company in an intellectual property and trade secrets dispute in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California
  • Healthcare Provider Litigation: Obtained a favorable ruling for a healthcare provider in a litigation victory of $300 million against a private insurer in California
  • Alcohol Licensing: Secured several highly valuable alcohol licenses for a nationwide retailer in Alaska
