Mitchell L. McBride is a litigation attorney in the Tampa office of Holland & Knight. Mr. McBride focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation and white collar criminal defense in state and federal court.
Mr. McBride's experience includes counseling clients and litigating a wide range of issues, including breach of contract and business tort disputes, class actions, as well as criminal investigations and prosecutions.
Mr. McBride's recent representative matters include:
- successfully defended data breach, product liability and mass tort class actions
- represented a company suing a local government on constitutional claims based on a vacation rental ordinance
- prevailed on getting insurance companies dismissed in the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), professional negligence, coverage and bad faith cases
- defended a former executive in a federal public corruption matter at all stages of the criminal case
- defeated the United States in a direct-filed False Claims Act (FCA) case on summary judgment
- advised a company on antitrust compliance issues with possible U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) prosecution lingering
- opined on whether a publicly traded company violated a state criminal statute
- favorably settled a case of a pilot accused of violating the U.S. Customs and Border Protection's (CBP) landing regulations
- defended news organizations in defamation lawsuits and advised them on other First Amendment issues
Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. McBride was a litigation associate at a national law firm. Before that, he served as the law clerk for the Honorable Anthony Epstein of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
