Overview

Emily McWey is a Jacksonville attorney and a member of Holland & Knight's Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice. Ms. McWey focuses her practice on a variety of litigation matters in state and federal court, including matters involving class actions, business torts, healthcare and contract disputes. She has represented clients in several class action lawsuits and has experience with navigating class certification issues and beyond.

Ms. McWey is well versed in the regulatory frameworks governing health insurance and health maintenance organizations' benefit plans and regularly represents clients in connection with payor/provider disputes, Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) litigation and related matters. Ms. McWey also handles a variety of complex business litigation matters for clients in the media, financial services and banking industries.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Ms. McWey served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Heidi M. Pasichow of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. She assisted with various civil cases, including matters involving contract, regulatory and tort disputes.

While in law school, Ms. McWey served as a student attorney handling housing-related matters and was an editor for the Georgetown Journal of Law and Public Policy. She also tutored first-year students in torts, property and contracts, and served as a summer associate in Holland & Knight's Washington, D.C., office. Before law school, Ms. McWey served as an honors colloquium leader and earned a Leadership Certificate from Florida State's Center for Leadership and Social Change.
