Overview
Carlos Nieto is a legislative assistant coordinator in Holland & Knight's Mexico City office. Mr. Nieto focuses his practice on the analysis, design and execution of strategies for legislative, executive and electoral processes at the federal and local levels, with a strong focus on strategic engagement and decision-making support across multiple sectors.
With more than 15 years of experience, Mr. Nieto has extensive knowledge of legislative lobbying, institutional relations and political intelligence. He also has experience advising private companies, industry associations and public institutions in key sectors such as energy, infrastructure, food, consumer goods, health and technology – helping them navigate Mexico's complex political and regulatory environment while managing risk and building meaningful connections with decision-makers. Mr. Nieto's work emphasizes the use of applied political research and big data to anticipate scenarios, foster institutional development and align organizational priorities with the evolving public agenda.
Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Nieto served in the Mexican Senate and research centers, where he worked with international relations and North American affairs, producing executive summaries, strategic charts and political analysis from a trilateral perspective. He has also led research and political intelligence teams in consulting firms, overseeing the design of specialized databases, legislative monitoring reports and stakeholder mapping initiatives.
