Overview
Jessica R. Sievert is a litigation and dispute resolution attorney in Holland & Knight's Jacksonville and Miami offices. Ms. Sievert focuses her practice on litigating complex civil and criminal cases, handling government and internal investigations and advising clients on compliance related matters. She also brings 15 years of dedicated experience – both in private practice and on behalf of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) – regarding healthcare fraud enforcement and litigation.
Ms. Sievert's experience includes investigating, litigating and negotiating resolutions in countless healthcare fraud cases involving the Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, hospice care, skilled nursing, long-term care facilities, academic medical centers, hospitals, lab testing, medical necessity and upcoding, among others. In addition, she handles complex litigation in the civil and white collar criminal contexts, as well as securities and other high-stakes litigation.
Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Ms. Sievert held various positions throughout the DOJ, where she gained extensive knowledge and experience as to the False Claims Act (FCA). Ms. Sievert was the deputy civil chief and healthcare fraud coordinator in the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida, where she supervised all FCA matters and other civil enforcement cases districtwide. She also served as a DOJ trial attorney in the Civil Fraud Section, where she managed a nationwide docket of healthcare fraud cases through all phases of investigation, litigation and settlement. In addition, she was an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of Tennessee, focused on healthcare and procurement fraud matters.
Previously, Ms. Sievert was an attorney in private practice, where she represented clients in complex civil litigation, criminal matters, and government and internal investigations.
While in law school, Ms. Sievert was on the executive board of the University of Miami Law Review, as well as a fellow for the Center for Ethics and Public Service.
