Managing Stormwater: Funding Mechanisms to Reduce Runoff
Environmental Law Institute
Environment Partner Rafe Petersen will moderate a webinar panel discussion on Stormwater Utility Fees (SUFs) and other funding mechanisms for managing stormwater runoff. As the planet continues to warm, the amount of water vapor in the atmosphere has increased, leading to more intense storms and more frequent floods. Among the consequences of this is that stormwater runoff has become the fastest growing source of water pollution in watersheds throughout the United States. Many municipalities lack a sustainable source of funding for stormwater management programs and so have turned to SUFs to keep them running. The panel will cover best practices for implementing SUFs, the role of SUFs in mitigating runoff and water pollution and governmental assistance in stormwater management.
