5th Annual European Forum on Global FDI Reviews

International Trade attorneys Robert Friedman and Antonia Tzinova will participate in the 5th Annual European Forum on Global FDI Reviews, hosted by the American Conference Institute. This two-day event, held in Belgium, convenes leading foreign direct investment (FDI) review practitioners and corporate executives from around the globe to share their experiences advising on and navigating foreign investment review and multijurisdictional transactions.

Ms. Tzinova will moderate a panel on the first day of the event featuring senior corporate executives, who will share their experiences navigating complex FDI challenges, from planning tips to navigating unexpected impacts to managing costs while ensuring compliance. The panelists will also talk about implementing a clear foreign investment review strategy to facilitate timely approval of transactions consistent with deal objectives.

On the second day of the event, Mr. Friedman will facilitate a fireside chat with Paul Rosen, the Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Investment Security in the United States. Mr. Rosen leads all operations and activities of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), and the conversation will cover a range of hot topics regarding the impact of foreign investment screening regulations on international dealmakers.

Also on day two of the event, Ms. Tzinova and Mr. Friedman will co-host a discussion on the latest trends on foreign investment in the U.S. Their session will examine a proposed rule to enhance CFIUS enforcement and compliance authorities, proposed rules around outbound investment screening, and renewed regulatory scrutiny of real estate transactions in close proximity to sensitive national security locations. They will also delve into important developments affecting cross-border mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activity in the U.S. as well as offer practical strategies for successfully navigating the regulatory landscape
