Mental Health Parity & NQTLs: Compliance, Audits and New Regulations

Healthcare Regulatory Compliance Team Co-Leader Colbey Reagan will speak during the Self-Insurance Institute of America Inc.'s (SIIA) National Conference in Phoenix, Arizona. The three-day conference convenes thought leaders, innovators and providers in the self-insured and captive insurance industry, with employers, brokers, captive managers, stop-loss carriers and more also present. Mr. Reagan's discussion will take place on the last day of the event and will review new compliance burdens facing self-insured plan sponsors and third-party services providers. The U.S. Department of Labor has ramped up Mental Health Parity compliance audits, Non-Quantitative Treatment Limitation (NQTL) analyses continue to pose challenges, and the Biden Administration has issued regulations requiring self-insured plans to present detailed reports comparing NQTLs applicable to mental health benefits versus medical benefits covered under the plan.
