Tax attorneys Lee Meyercord and Christopher Rizek will participate in UT Law CLE's 72nd Annual Taxation Conference, taking place at The University of Texas at Austin. The event convenes premier tax practitioners for conversations on topics related to business planning and tax controversy.

Ms. Meyercord's presentation will focus on partnership taxes, specifically the limited partner exception to the Self-Employment Contributions Act (SECA). She will provide an overview of the history of the limited partner exception and its application, along with guidance on how to approach it during a tax audit.

Mr. Rizek will delve into the issue of identifying one's client. This seemingly simple question can quickly take a turn for the complicated when working with limited liability companies (LLCs), corporations, trusts and even certain joint filers. He will explore ethical and practical considerations that arise in these discussions, such as protecting attorney-client privilege and handling communication and common interest agreements.
