CEQA Litigation: Curbing Abuse, Advancing Housing and Asserting State Preemption
myLawCLE
West Coast Land Use and Environment attorney Daniel Golub will be speaking on a myLawCLE webinar addressing heightened scrutiny of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) amid California's housing crisis. Although designed as an environmental safeguard, CEQA has often been used to delay or block infill and affordable housing projects that otherwise meet stringent standards. Mr. Golub will examine how courts and advocates are countering these tactics through state preemption, constitutional arguments and targeted litigation strategies. He will look at recent case law to outline a practical framework for attorneys working in this space and advise practitioners on how to identify and combat CEQA abuse, deploy defenses based on mandates such as Senate Bill (SB) 330 and SB 35, and protect housing entitlements.
