Responding to a Healthcare False Claims Act Investigation
American Health Law Association (AHLA) 2026 Winter Institute
Las Vegas, Nevada 89109
Healthcare and litigation attorney Henry Leventis will speak at the American Health Law Association's (AHLA) 2026 Winter Institute in Las Vegas. The institute combines two conferences – Advising Providers: Legal Strategies for AMCs, Physicians and Hospitals and The Complexities of AI in Healthcare – to create a comprehensive three-day program addressing the full spectrum of healthcare law. Mr. Leventis' session will form part of the physician/hospital and academic medical center tracks, outlining how to respond to a False Claims Act (FCA) investigation. He will describe the steps to take after receiving a Civil Investigative Demand (CID), emphasize the importance of a thorough internal investigation, explain how the government will look at claims data and highlight how to estimate exposure under the FCA, plus other financial implications of an investigation. The presentation will additionally share best practices for communicating with government attorneys such as Assistant U.S. Attorneys (AUSAs) and state attorneys general (AGs), as well as the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (HHS-OIG).
