Litigation and arbitration Partner Robert J. Kaler will present a CLE program on "Effective International Discovery in a Privacy-Focused World" at the 2026 Annual Conference of the American Bar Association's (ABA) International Law Section (ILS) in Washington, D.C., on May 12, 2026. The conference is a three-day event for legal professionals from around the world who practice in the area of international law to discuss the latest legal and business developments affecting their clients at the global level.

Mr. Kaler will lead a session focused on the available legal processes for gathering evidence for use in international disputes both in the U.S. and abroad, including new developments in applying the Hague Convention on the Taking of Evidence Abroad, U.S. laws that allow for taking of domestic discovery for use in foreign proceedings, the rise of cloud-based electronic systems and increasing prevalence of data protection laws that have affected the process of discovering needed information, as well as the process of obtaining oral testimony, both live and virtually, in countries whose legal procedures do not typically incorporate it.
