Establishing Residency Outside of Oregon for Personal Income Tax Purposes

Due to Oregon's onerous state income tax, a practitioner may find that some clients will attempt to establish that they are not residents of Oregon but are instead residents of neighboring Washington, which imposes no state income tax on it residents. However, the process of changing one's residence for tax purposes is more difficult than simply purchasing a house in Washington.
