Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe, on his first day in office, signed Executive Order 2 "Personnel Directive Prohibiting the Receipt of Certain Gifts; Establishment of Executive Branch Ethics Commission" which bans executive branch officers or employees and their immediate families from soliciting gifts, accepting gifts from lobbyists or their employers, or accepting gifts valued at over $100. Items with a value under $25 will still be allowed. The order also establishes a three member Executive Branch Ethics Commission. The executive order is effective for one year beginning on January 11, 2014.
