Congressman Raul Ruiz is pleased to announce that he will host a roundtable discussion on environmental justice in Indian Country.

Date: Tuesday, June 14, 2016
Time: 1:15 – 2:15 p.m.
Location: 234 Cannon House Office Building

Topics for discussion include:

  • Environmental injustice in Native American communities
  • Challenges faced in mitigating environmental impacts
  • Ways to collaborate with the broader environmental justice community
  • Legislative solutions such as increased funding, tribal set-asides for specific Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) programs, and expansion of the Bureau of Indian Affairs “638” Self-governance contracts to allow tribes to plan and administer EPA services, programs, and activities on tribal lands
