Thanks to the digitalization of all consumer protection processes ongoing in the system of procedures of the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (hereinafter SIC), this entity decided to resume the terms of those by means of Resolution No. 19831 of 2020.

In this sense, the terms of the processes that are ongoing before the Delegation for Jurisdictional Affairs of the SIC for violation of consumer rights are resumed. Additionally, the lawsuits or proceedings filed as of March 17, 2020, and those filed as of May 1 of this year are resumed.

The processes and procedures carried out by the SIC will be executed through the use of information and communication technologies enabled by the Entity.

As for the processes for violation of unfair competition law, infringement of industrial property rights and mixed ones before the SIC, the suspension of the terms of law was extended from May 1 to May 30, 2020, a period in which the terms of law will not run, including those established in months or years, such as expiration, the statute of limitations or firmness. The same applies to the procedures for verifying compliance with judgments, settlements, and transactions concluded in a legal manner, in matters of violation of consumer rights.
