Labor and employment attorney Mariangela Cáceres wrote an article for Asuntos Legales about the legal effects of job offers in Colombia. The article explains the importance of the pre-contractual labor stage and how, in the absence of specific regulation in the Substantive Labor Code, courts has granted legal value to job offers. Ms. Cáceres highlights that a job offer becomes binding when it is properly communicated, accepted and contains the essential elements of the employment contract. Furthermore, she points out that non-compliance or withdrawal of the offer by the employer may generate the obligation to compensate the potential employee for damages caused.
