Environmental Law in New York, LexisNexis
Environmental attorneys Jose Almanzar, Meaghan Colligan Hembree, Alexandra Ward and Amy O'Brien co-authored an article featured in LexisNexis' Environmental Law in New York newsletter about proposed amendments to New York's State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) regulations aimed at implementing the Environmental Justice Siting Law. The article explains how these amendments seek to integrate environmental justice considerations into the SEQRA review process by requiring evaluations of potential disproportionate pollution burdens on disadvantaged communities. It also outlines key changes such as updated definitions, new exceptions for certain projects and heightened analysis requirements in environmental impact statements, highlighting the broader implications for industries including real estate development, manufacturing, renewable energy and waste management when operating in New York State.
