Private Wealth Services attorney Shaina Kamen contributed to an article published in the American Bar Association (ABA) Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section's (RPTEL) Probate & Property magazine reviewing estate planning mishaps involving celebrities. As the authors explain, public figures such as celebrities tend either to ignore estate planning altogether or forget to update outdated estate plans; even when they do work with counsel to craft effective plans, changes in family circumstances or tax laws may call for changes. The article summarizes lessons learned from cases involving rapper Tupac Shakur, Oscar-winning actor Paul Newman, actress Anne Heche, businessman Matthew Mellon II, Lisa Marie Presley and Ivana Trump.
