Neb. Tribe's High Court Win Doesn't Clinch Tax Power

The U.S. Supreme Court recently ruled that a federal land act did not reduce the size of a Nebraska tribe's reservation. It also suggested that enforcing the tribe's liquor tax or other regulations on non-Indians may be more difficult.

"[The decision] is obviously a clear victory, and it's a good confirmation that statutory text is not going to be overridden by subsequent history," said Native American Law attorney James T. Meggesto.
