Ill. Nuke Subsidy Ruling Boosts States' Clean Energy Push

The push for clean energy policies and recent power subsidies has brought forth challenges for renewable energy mandates. Some have argued that Illinois' zero emission credit (ZEC) program directly affects the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's (FERC) wholesale market prices.

“States that want to do something different in the way of energy policy are perhaps on safe ground even if their efforts indirectly impact the areas exclusively within FERC's jurisdiction,” Attorney Stephen Humes said.
