High Court Ruling No Green Light For Suit-Killing Laws

Partner James Meggesto shares some insight on the D.C. Circuit ruling that the 2014 Gun Lake Act didn't interfere with the federal courts' role by directing a particular result. He points out that the Gun Lake Act was its affirmation of the DOI's trust land acquisition for the tribe and that the jurisdiction-stripping part of the law supported that.

"Nobody seems to question that Congress could affirm the land is in trust, and that's ultimately what the case is about," said Mr. Meggesto
