Nonprofit Hospitals Exempt From Taxes, Not From Hill Scrutiny
Partner Christopher Armstrong was recently quoted by Bloomberg Government regarding the Senate Finance Committee's plan to review how nonprofit hospitals are earning tax-exempt status and how these standards are enforced by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Mr. Armstrong speaks to Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley's interest into how organizations utilize their tax-exempt status to benefit the public.
"Grassley has always been interested in ensuring that organizations that enjoy a tax exemption are acting in a way that benefits the public," said Mr. Armstrong, who was the chief oversight counsel on the Senate Finance Committee.
