Despite Reputation, CFPB Not Toothless Under New Leadership

In an interview with Compliance Week, Co-Chair of the firm's Consumer Protection Defense and Compliance Team Anthony DiResta commented on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) under its new director, Kathleen Kraninger. Mr. DiResta notes that criticism may be wrongly aimed at the CFPB and its director.
"There may be a misimpression that the CFPB is lax when, in fact, it is not; it’s a very active Bureau. They’ve been looking at many players in the financial services industry—banks, lenders, credit-repair organizations, debt collectors," said Mr. DiResta.
