Behaving Badly on an Airplane Becomes a Very American Problem

Aviation attorney Anita Mosner was quoted in an Aviation Week Network article about a stark increase in the number of passenger incidents reported by airlines since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Federal Aviation Association (FAA) reported over 630 passenger incident investigations in 2021 so far, a 330% increase since 2019. The majority are related to passengers refusing to wear masks on flights.

 

A panel of aviation lawyers in an International Aviation Club webinar reported there was almost nothing similar happening outside of the United States, despite a mask mandate enforced in nearly every other country around the world. “The underlying problem is that we have politicized public health processes," Ms. Mosner said.
