What Is a Digital Tax Receipt, and What Purpose Does It Serve?
Tax Partner Mario Barrera was interviewed by Expansión about the Digital Tax Receipt (Comprobante Fiscal Digital, or CFDI) in Mexico. A CFDI is an electronic invoice that a taxpayer obtains when paying for a service or purchasing goods. Mr. Barrera explained that "its importance lies in the fact that if you do not have it, despite a contract or operation being in order, just by not having it you cannot deduct anything" when you present your annual declaration to Mexico's Tax Administration Service. He also answered various questions about the CFDI.
