After Project Denial, Ratkovich Sues City Of Alhambra

West Coast Land Use and Environment attorney Daniel Golub spoke with Bisnow about the city of Alhambra's denial of The Villages of Alhambra project. This was a proposal for a residential redevelopment by Ratkovich Co. According to the developer, The Villages abided by all of the applicable zoning and development standards, which is why the company is now suing the city. Mr. Golub says the courts will defend the developer due to increasing seriousness and visibility of the state's housing crisis.

"Cities, of course, are going to be allowed to set their own zoning and decide where and under what circumstances they're going to allow housing," he said. "But the legislature and the courts are going to hold their feet to the fire in asking them to please approve the housing that they have put in their plans."
