Can Latin America’s Oil Companies Meet Their ESG Targets?
Energy Partner José Zapata was interviewed by The Dialogue's Energy Advisor about Latin American oil companies meeting their Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) targets. Mr. Zapata shared his insight on Colombia's oil companies and how these are handling their oil and gas performances. He also talked about how Latin American state-oil companies are working to reach their ESG targets, and what financial implications they will face if they fall short.
"In some instances, representations on ESG simply seek to mitigate negative effects on investments while effective implementation is quite limited," he said. "In other cases, advances are more robust in documenting needed changes and proposing sustainable programs, but again, implementation is lacking."
