Meet The Attys Leading Philly's Newest Mass Tort Programs

Litigation attorney Thomas Yoo, who leads Holland & Knight's Product Liability Life Sciences Team, was mentioned in a Law360 article about the hundreds of pending personal injury complaints against companies including Monsanto, Syngenta and Pfizer. The Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas has established three new mass tort programs aimed at coordinating these cases. Mr. Yoo was noted in the article for his role as liaison co-counsel for Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, a manufacturer of the heartburn drug Zantac. 

"The team is rounded out by Holland & Knight LLP partner Thomas Yoo, who represents Glenmark Pharmaceuticals. Yoo, who is based in Holland & Knight's office in Los Angeles, joined the firm in 2018 and leads the firm's product liability life sciences team. He joins the team with significant prior experience in Zantac litigation, as he successfully argued for the dismissal of nearly 120,000 similar claims filed against Glenmark in Florida. The judge in that case agreed that the claims were preempted by federal law."
