Visa Dilemmas Bubble as Writers' Strike Enters 2nd Month

Immigration attorney Vinh Duong was quoted in a Law360 article discussing visa dilemmas amid the Writers Guild of America strike. The article points out that foreign workers in the TV and film industries are now facing uncertainty over securing, extending and maintaining their O-1 visa status. Mr. Duong commented that many writers currently on O-1 visas will be concerned about whether participating in the strike will impact their status, but asserted that the bigger impact will be felt by newer petitioners.

"The longer the strike lasts, the more it will impact individuals who are filing an O-1 for the first time, or individuals who have an O-1 petition approved but are not physically in the U.S.," he said.
