SEC Cybersecurity Rule Increases Costs, Risks for Health Care
Cybersecurity and data privacy attorney Bess Hinson spoke to Bloomberg Law about the unique risks the recent cybersecurity and data privacy rules set by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) pose to publicly traded companies in the healthcare sector.
“The healthcare industry is going to be held to a higher standard,” Ms. Hinson stated. “Given the nature of the data that they hold about patients—how sensitive it is and also the fact that the disruption to their business or operations—is literally life-threatening.”
