Trade Agreements Touted as a Counterbalance in Mexico
International Trade attorney Turenna Ramirez was cited in a Reforma article, where she highlighted the role of international trade agreements as a legal and economic balance. She pointed out that these agreements, including those covering free trade and investment protection, offer essential legal protection to ensure adherence to the rule of law for both foreign and domestic investors. Ms. Ramirez emphasized the government's need to provide legal certainty and foster green energy investments to attract foreign investment through nearshoring.
"These trade agreements on free trade, investment protection, tax issues and numerous others that Mexico has signed, serve as legal armor for foreign and domestic investors to ensure the rule of law is upheld and these agreements are complied with," she said.
