Craig Wright's Colleague Tried to Stop Court Case — He Didn't Listen
Litigation attorney Andrew Balthazor was cited in a Cointelegraph article discussing the evolving case surrounding Australian businessman Craig Wright, who claimed to be part of the team that created Bitcoin. Wright lost a lawsuit filed against him by the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA) in March 2024, when U.K. High Court Judge Edward James Mellor ruled he was not Satoshi Nakamoto, the inventor of Bitcoin. Wright now faces another potential court date for perjury stemming from statements made during the COPA trial. Mr. Balthazor remarked on Wright's history of filing defamation lawsuits, which may now backfire in light of his diminished credibility. He added he believes those previously targeted by Wright could have valid claims.
"The language used by the court was pretty strident. I think his personal credibility is obviously shot. I think a good attorney is going to be able to use the evidence of his falsehoods in the COPA trial to undermine his credibility and possibly reopen issues that were thought closed," Mr. Balthazor said.
