Portafolio
Labor and employment attorney Camilo Cuervo was quoted in a Portafolio article about the reduction of working hours in Colombia, which will come into effect on July 15. r. Cuervo explained that that maximum work week will gradually be reduced from 46 hours, noting that companies that do not comply with the regulation will be subject to fines from the country's Ministry of Labor. Furthermore, he emphasized that this benefit covers all Colombian workers, including partially those in management and trust positions.
"When it comes into effect, starting from July 16, the norm, the expiration date, will be July 15, the maximum weekly working hours will be 46 hours. What will happen to companies that do not apply the change? They can be fined by the Ministry of Labor and could automatically incur a debt of overtime hours with respect to the new established limit," he said.
