Revista Semana
Labor and employment attorney Camilo Cuervo was interviewed by Revista Semana about labor reform in Colombia and its impact on the job market. The article highlighted that, although the reform seeks to benefit workers with more and better benefits, it could also create challenges for companies as a result of increased labor costs. Mr. Cuervo warned that certain aspects of the reform could have unintended consequences on job creation and labor formalization.
"Statistics have shown that increasing severance payments only prevents formalization. And regarding the surcharges, costs increase for companies that work during those hours and days, which are not the majority in the country. That's why I believe this is more of a media-driven and popular issue," he said.
