What Will Billions in Energy Investments Mean for Argentina?
Latin America Energy Advisor, Inter-American Dialogue
Corporate attorneys Peter Baumgaertner and Francisco Bianchetti were featured in a Q&A with the Inter-American Dialogue's Latin America Energy Advisor about the potential impact of billions in energy investments in Argentina. They discussed the sectors likely to attract international investors, including oil and gas, mining and lithium. The attorneys highlighted the importance of the country's new investment promotion regime, RIGI (Régimen de Incentivo para Grandes Inversiones), in attracting foreign investment by providing fiscal, customs, and foreign exchange incentives, as well as regulatory stability and international arbitration options.
"RIGI will stimulate economic recovery, but it will need to sustain it to be successful," they said. "If this cycle is accomplished, an unprecedented influx of dollars and long-term sustainable development will be possible in the energy sector and the economy as a whole."
