These Are the Changes to Payments to PILA Under the New Pension System

Asuntos Legales

Labor and employment attorney Camilo Cuervo was cited in an Asuntos Legales article explaining the changes to Colombia's pension system under the pension reform that will take effect on July 1, 2025. The amendments will adjust how contributions to the Integrated Payroll for Liquidation of Contributions (PILA) are made for independent workers and contractors. Contributions for those who earn up to 2.3 times the legal monthly minimum wage (SMLV) will go to Colpensiones, while earnings that surpass this number will be managed by an Individual Saving Complementary Component Administrator (ACCAI). Mr. Cuervo assured that for certain individuals, the reforms will not change their contributions.

"The current regime will be maintained with those who have more than these weeks. For them it will be as if the reform never existed," he clarified.
