Budget Reconciliation Bill Faces a Rocky Road as Medicaid and ACA Cuts Draw Provider Concerns
Senior Policy Advisor Larry Bucshon was quoted in a Healthcare Financial Management Association article discussing the uncertain outlook for the House budget reconciliation bill containing major Medicaid funding cuts. Mr. Bucshon highlighted the challenging dynamics within the Republican caucus, as both moderates and hard-liners continue to debate elements like the timing of Medicaid work requirements and restrictions on provider funding. He also noted that unresolved differences in the Senate and concerns about the bill’s impact on insurance coverage and hospital funding will further complicate the legislative process.
"You have to address regulation, you have to address Stark Law. You have to do those things if you think that you can decrease the outlays from these federal healthcare programs. Otherwise, it just doesn’t work. You’re going to lose services, particularly in rural America and in underserved urban America," he said.
