International Trade attorney Francisco Sánchez was interviewed by La República regarding the impacts of the Trump Administration's proposed tariffs on the film industry. He explained that the administration is concerned about the effect of foreign tax incentives, arguing they both disadvantage U.S. filmmakers and raise national security issues because of the content of imported films. Mr. Sánchez warned that these policies could ultimately harm the American film industry by driving production overseas to countries with more favorable financial conditions.

"Trump is framing this as a national security threat and as unfair competition from governments that support film production in their own countries," he said.
