The Impacts That Labor Reform Would Have on the Restaurant Industry
Vanguardia
Labor and employment attorney Camilo Cuervo was interviewed by Vanguardia about the impacts that the labor reform would have on the restaurant industry in the metropolitan area of Bucaramanga, Colombia. The reform proposes changes such as advancing the start of nighttime work hours and increasing surcharges for work on mandatory rest days, which could lead to higher labor costs for businesses in the sector. Mr. Cuervo highlighted the importance of distributing the monthly deposit of severance funds to accounts to avoid placing heavy burdens on companies.
"I believe the most significant change in this new proposal is the creation of the simple labor regime. It is a first step, still tentative, but it opens the possibility to start thinking about salaries that include social benefits," he said.
