CEQA Carve-Outs to Start Expediting Projects After Historic Reform

West Coast Land Use and Environmental Group Leader Jennifer Hernandez was quoted in a Bisnow article about newly enacted forms to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), which aim to expedite housing development by exempting certain projects from lengthy environmental reviews. Ms. Hernandez highlighted that these changes could fast-track dozens of pending projects, reducing litigation risks and encouraging a surge in new housing applications.

"The single most high-risk part of the entitlement process is CEQA litigation. By removing that component, it is just going to be a lot less risky to entitle and then build an apartment project," she said.
